Stanford Baipu Chinese Music Ensemble

斯坦福白朴中乐团

Stanford Baipu Chinese Music Ensemble, founded by Stanford students and alumni, is an orchestra based in the Bay Area which practices and performs traditional and contemporary Chinese music. The name of the music group "Baipu", in Chinese, means "white and simple". The word describes our presentation of Chinese musical and artistic philosophy—"Emptiness and Effortlessness". It is the emptiness that embraces unlimited imagination, and the effortlessness that embodies the true masterpiece.

The ensemble is directed by the world renowned musician Hui (Daisy) You, and consists of approximately 50 members including many talented award-winning professional and amateur musicians. We strive to promote cultural exchanges, to raise awareness of Chinese music, and to instigate artistic creativity within the community. We welcome anyone with the same passion and some musical experience to join us!
